Legal notes

What Surjection does and does not do from a legal perspective.

Surjection is a testing and documentation tool. It is not legal advice, and using it does not make a website or app compliant with WCAG, EN 301 549, the European Accessibility Act, the German BFSG, the Austrian BaFG, the Swiss BehiG or any other law.

Surjection does

  • run the automated rules of axe-core and map them to WCAG and EN 301 549,
  • list rules it could not decide as "needs manual review",
  • generate a structured accessibility statement from the data you provide.

Surjection does not

  • find all barriers. Automated tests cover only part of the success criteria,
  • decide whether your service falls under a law, or which exemptions apply,
  • review the content of the statement it generates.

You decide which pages and states to test, which findings to accept in a baseline, and what your statement says. Have accessibility and legal questions reviewed by a qualified person.
